The Hebrew name for this fourth of the books of Moses is Bamidbar, which means "in the wilderness". Study of this book will help the student gain a better grasp of the story of Israel as they move out from Sinai and wander in the wilderness by the leading of the angel of God in the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night to the plains of Moab. Along the way they will receive further commands from God through Moses and have additional testings of their faith and obedience. May their experiences serve as examples to us.
